Rainbow, a 45-acre (18 hectare) former ski area in the 1970’s, will primarily be a local, resident neighbourhood that will house up to 1250 residents. Its ideal location, on the north side of Highway 99 between Alpine Meadows and Emerald Estates, approximately 5.5 km north of Whistler Village, makes it an excellent candidate to fulfill a significant part of the growing shortage of resident housing in Whistler.
Rainbow is not only intended to be an important resident community in Whistler that provides more affordable housing alternatives, but also a model green and sustainable development that meets or exceeds the Whistler Green standards and the Whistler 2020 guidelines. Most importantly, Rainbow will be a highly liveable, healthy, safe, and walkable community that is sensitive to its spectacular alpine setting and complements the Whistler Valley vision.
